Emily Steiner, ASW

Associate Therapist, Under the supervision of Jordyn Levine, LCSW

I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) and earned my Masters of Social Work from USC. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

During my time as a graduate student at USC, I worked as a school-based therapist at an elementary and middle school providing individual and group therapy. I also offered social emotional learning in the classroom. In addition to clinical work, I served as an advocate for clients within the school system and the larger community to support their educational needs in these settings. After this experience, I began working (and continue to work) at Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center, a community mental health agency. I provided individual and family therapy, as well as advocacy, in the outpatient clinic and in an educational setting.

When working with clients, I utilize an attachment theory lens and incorporate components of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and Managing Adapting Practice (MAP). I am dedicated to providing culturally sensitive therapy to clients with a specialized and unique approach, and place great value on the individual identities of my clients. In my work with children and teens, I believe in incorporating the family system in order to create enduring change. I am passionate about being part of my clients’ journeys of growth, whatever that looks like for each client and family. When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy taking my two dogs on walks and spending time with family and friends.
